Breitling Spring Collection 2020

This year, the watch brands we carry must reinvent themselves when it comes to presenting new products. Breitling's CEO Georges Kern is demonstrating this and is currently presenting the innovations online himself: 3 new model ranges have been added to existing collections. New models are the Superocean 57, Navitimer 35 and extensions to the Chronomat collection. Our conclusion? Very successful retro-look watches for men and women.

Breitling’s timeless homage to the surfing movement: The Superocean Heritage 57

The announcement of the Breitling Superocean 57 as a Capsule collection has caused a storm of enthusiasm among many fans of the brand. This line is intended as a tribute to the design and style of the 1950s and 1960s, and fits seamlessly into Breitling’s previous retro collections.

Looking at the classic design, it has lost none of its timelessness. This is an important aspect of all retro designs, which only really works with style icons like this. The factual, functional and yet visually very attractive style of the Superocean 57 offers a wide variety of bracelets ranging from fine calfskin to striking colors of the 60s that never seem boring or kitschy for a second. Anyone who is familiar with the surfer movement of the 50s and 60s will inevitably have the music of those years in their ears when they look at these high-quality watches.

Limited edition - the Breitling Superocean 57 is in great demand

This timepiece is made for the water and is an excellent choice not only for surfers but also for divers. The Breitling Capsule Superocean Heritage 57 collection is a perfect match for the latest outfits and the surfing fashions of the day. Although not individually numbered, it is produced in a limited edition. So fans should strike quickly before the coveted models are sold out. Until then, customers can choose from two dial options and various bracelets in vintage style. Particularly noteworthy here are the colored versions that capture the spirit of the surfer’s days. Incidentally, the Superocean 57 is also available with a stainless steel bracelet and a high-quality double-folding clasp that always underlines the style of the watch. On the technical side there is nothing to criticize. Breitling has installed the proven Caliber 10 in the Superocean, which has a power reserve of a generous 42 hours. Naturally, all models have Breitling-typical independent COSC certification for chronometer accuracy.

The Breitling Navitimer Automatic 35 combines feminine elegance and technical perfection

Courageous female pilots had a particularly hard time in the early days of aviation. In addition to the technical challenges, they also had to stand up to the prejudices of the male world, which was more than sceptical about female pilots. With the Navitimer 35, Breitling has brought out a pilot’s watch for women that skilfully picks up on the classic design of days gone by without sacrificing modern looks and perfection. The name of the tradition-rich Navitimer 35 collection is a perfect blend of contemporary stylistic elements, elegant design and a size specifically designed for women.

As functional and elegant as Breitling’s men’s chronometers for pilots are, none of the other Breitling innovations combine appealing design and functionality as successfully as the Navitimer Automatic 35, which is designed with female customers in mind. On the technical side, it scores points not only with the obligatory COSC certification that all Breitling chronometers have, but also with the tried-and-tested Breitling Caliber 17, which is ideally dimensioned with a power reserve of 38 hours.

Tradition is the key to the Breitling Navitimer 35

The 35 mm case is available in several versions, which can be combined with various coloured dials and bracelets in alligator leather (optionally stainless steel). A total of four versions of the Navitimer Automatic 35 offer a choice of monochrome or multi-coloured dials. In particular, the fourth version in 18-carat red gold with a white dial in mother-of-pearl and indices in diamond is a remarkable piece of technology with timeless elegance.

In developing and conceiving the Navitimer Automatic 35, Breitling’s designers wanted to create a watch that would offer the stylish elegance of smaller chronometers that would look good on ladies’ wrists on any occasion. At the same time, customers do not want to compromise on technical perfection or functionality. The Breitling Navitimer Automatic 35 collection brilliantly combines these two requirements. In particular, the many possible combinations of case and bracelet leave plenty of scope for the wearer’s individuality.

Retro in perfection from Breitling: the Chronomat collection

If you talk about retro, you can’t get around the 80s. Back then, music, design and technology were in a phase where all experiments were allowed – and often presented very successful results. At that time, Breitling went against the fashion trend with the Chronomat, focusing on classic perfection that has been maintained and proven to this day. The aim then, as now, was to create a fashionable sports watch that defied short-lived trends and yet became a stylistic icon of its time. Now, almost four decades later, the new version of the Chronomat offers the opportunity to wear this Breitling classic on your wrist.

The name Chronomat has stood for legendary watchmaking since the 1940s. In 1984, the term chronograph for mathematics, which was valid at that time, was changed to the combination of chronograph and automatic to emphasize the high-quality mechanical movement with automatic winding – at that time a real exception in the age of the quartz watch. As with all Breitling innovations, the classic design was only carefully optimized to emphasize the retro spirit. The new collection is powered by Caliber 01, which has an incredible power reserve of up to 70 hours. Naturally, the Chronomat also has independent COSC certification of accuracy and is water-resistant to a pressure of 20 bar (equivalent to 200 meters).
