Breitling’s all-purpose watch for every kind of activity. The Chronomat occupies a significant place in Breitling’s history. When it was introduced in 1984, when extra-flat quartz watches were the order of the day, Breitling ventured into a mechanical watch with impressive proportions. Based on the Frecce Tricolori chronograph developed and launched in 1983 in collaboration with the famous Italian flying squadron, the Chronomat celebrated Breitling’s centenary in style, restoring the mechanical chronograph to its rightful place at the brand that had established its global reputation with these incredible watches.

Available in a variety of materials, the Chronomat features a 42mm case and the iconic bezel with its four equestrian lugs. This particular version has a stainless steel case with a platinum bezel combined with an ice blue dial. Available only with a rubber strap, this Chronomat is powered by Breitling’s in-house Manufacture Calibre 01, a COSC-certified chronometer.

Breitling’s storied association with chronographs and aeronautics dates back to 1884, when Léon Breitling laid the foundation for a company that would remain in his family for nearly a century.

In 1923, a patented pocket watch with two chronograph pushers caused a sensation. The one pusher in the 2 o’clock position was used for starting and stopping, while the other, integrated into the crown, reset the chronograph mechanism. For the first time, it was possible for the stopwatch to measure multiple times in sequence.

In 1952, Willy Breitling developed a chronograph with a circular slide rule that pilots could use to make all the necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the American Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the largest pilots' club in the world, appointed his design as its official timepiece.

At Breitling, we believe in the power of a team, the strength of a group, and the mutual identification of a common target, which ultimately leads to success.
