Back in the 1950s, the original co-pilot Ref. 765 AVI played the leading role alongside another Breitling legend: the Navitimer. With its bold design, engraved rotating bezel and highly legible dial, the 765 AVI was a robust and reliable pilot’s watch that perfectly complemented the Navitimer. Today’s AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is modeled in every detail on one of the early versions of the Co-Pilot Ref. 765 AVI. Its all-black dial is protected by a highly domed Hesalite crystal and features the same Arabic numerals as the original 1953 Co-Pilot. 41 mm stainless steel case is also identical, and the bezel is locked by three screws in exactly the same position as on the 1953 watch.

There are only two concessions to modern times that distinguish this new model from its famous predecessor: The water-resistance has been increased to 3 bars (30 metres), and if you look very closely you will see that the inscription “GENEVE” is no longer visible on the dial. The AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-edition is powered by the in-house Breitling Manufacture caliber B09, a COSC-certified, hand-wound caliber based on the famous Breitling Caliber 01 and specially designed for the reissue of historical watches. The watch features a black leather strap in vintage style with a pin buckle and is limited to 1953 pieces, all of which bear the engraving “ONE OF 1953”.
