The Super AVI P-51 Mustang, a tribute to the best all-round fighter plane of its time, is available in two versions: with a stainless steel case, black dial and golden brown leather strap, and with an 18-karat red gold case, anthracite dial and black leather strap.

The Super AVI’s distinctive design features include large, easy-to-read Arabic numerals on the dial and bezel. The robust case has a diameter of 46 mm, and the oversized crown is located at the 3 o’clock position. The fluted bezel ensures optimal grip, while the calfskin strap with decorative stitching is visually reminiscent of the leather aviator gear of the era cited.

The Super AVI is powered by the COSC-certified Breitling manufacture calibre B04, which offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

Breitling’s storied association with chronographs and aeronautics dates back to 1884, when Léon Breitling laid the foundation for a company that would remain in his family for nearly a century.

In 1923, a patented pocket watch with two chronograph pushers caused a sensation. The one pusher in the 2 o’clock position was used for starting and stopping, while the other, integrated into the crown, reset the chronograph mechanism. For the first time, it was possible for the stopwatch to measure multiple times in sequence.

Navigation and timer - or simply Navitimer

In 1952, Willy Breitling developed a chronograph with a circular slide rule that pilots could use to make all the necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the American Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the largest pilots' club in the world, appointed his design as its official timepiece.
