A true pilot’s watch designed to withstand the rigors of a vintage cockpit, the Classic AVI Curtiss P-40 Warhawk features large, highly legible Arabic numerals on the dial and bezel. The ribbed bezel on the 42 mm case offers optimal grip even when wearing pilot’s gloves.

The calfskin strap with decorative stitching is reminiscent of classic flight jackets, while the stainless steel strap offers an elegant alternative. Pilots, as well as other travelers, will appreciate its easy-to-read, portability and understated style. The Classic AVI is powered by a COSC-certified Breitling caliber 23, which offers a power reserve of around 48 hours.

Breitling’s storied association with chronographs and aeronautics dates back to 1884, when Léon Breitling laid the foundation for a company that would remain in his family for nearly a century.

In 1923, a patented pocket watch with two chronograph pushers caused a sensation. The one pusher in the 2 o’clock position was used for starting and stopping, while the other, integrated into the crown, reset the chronograph mechanism. For the first time, it was possible for the stopwatch to measure multiple times in sequence.

In 1952, Willy Breitling developed a chronograph with a circular slide rule that pilots could use to make all the necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the American Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the largest pilots' club in the world, appointed his design as its official timepiece.

At Breitling, we believe in the power of a team, the strength of a group, and the mutual identification of a common target, which ultimately leads to success.
