With the Pertpetual Calendar 42 model in red gold, IWC Schaffhausen has succeeded for the first time in integrating the well-known calendar movement into one of the compact movements of the 82000 calibre family. The Portuguese Perpetual Calendar offers precise time measurement on a diameter of 42 millimetres. The calendar function is implemented via three subsidiary dials. During the development of this high-quality model, the focus was on simple operation, which should be guaranteed despite the complex functions. The Perpetual Calendar is based on a development by watchmaking legend Kurt Klaus from the 1980s.
The virtually wear-free Pellaton automatic winding mechanism is equipped with high-quality zirconium oxide ceramic components and can build up a power reserve of up to 60 hours. This outstanding and complex movement can be viewed – as is customary for the Portuguese – through the sapphire crystal viewing back.
