In 2021, the Speedmaster Moonwatch collection has been updated with next-generation models. The long-awaited new edition is now equipped with a powerful, anti-magnetic Master Chronometer certified movement. While many fans hold the classic design as untouchable, even sacred, OMEGA’s legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch has always kept pace with technological change. This timeless watch is still available with a sapphire or plexiglass (pictured here is the sapphire glass version).
It took 4 years of development to create the next powerful calibre in the Moonwatch family. With many innovative features such as OMEGA’s revolutionary Co-Axial escapement as well as the silicon Si14 balance spring, enabling the calibre to pass the 8 Master Chronometer tests. For this exciting redesign, OMEGA drew inspiration from the 4th generation Moonwatch – commonly known by its reference number ST 105.012, a model highly regarded among watch collectors as one of the watches worn by the Apollo 11 astronauts on the moon in 1969.
The new Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3861 ensures that the legendary Moonwatch can accurately tell the time even from the most extreme magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss.
