Mit einem klaren Fokus auf Technologie und Entwicklung stellt die Schweizer Uhrenmanufaktur IWC Schaffhausen seit 1868 Zeitmesser von bleibendem Wert her.
In der neuen Produktionsstätte führt die Schaffhauser Uhrenmanufaktur auf einer Fläche von 13‘500 Quadratmetern die Fertigung von Werkteilen, Manufakturwerken
und Gehäusen unter einem Dach zusammen – ein Meilenstein in der über 150-jährigen Geschichte des Unternehmens. So ist jetzt beispielsweise die gesamte Wertschöpfung vom Rohmaterial über das einzelne Werkteil bis zum fertigen Manufakturwerk auf einem Stockwerk in einer logischen Reihenfolge angeordnet.
Die Portugieser
Diese seit Mitte der 30er Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts hergestellte und sehr erfolgreiche Armbanduhr fiel seinerzeit aus der üblichen Art-déco-Stilistik heraus. Waren damals vor allem kleinere und schlankere Armbanduhren auf dem Markt erhältlich, wandten sich zwei portugiesische Geschäftsleute an die Uhrenmanufaktur IWC Schaffhausen, um dort eine traditionelle, grosse Armbanduhr mit der Präzision einer Taschenuhr in Auftrag zu geben, für die das Schaffhausener Unternehmen weltberühmt ist. Die Verbindung des Savonette-Taschenuhrkalibers 74 mit einem für Armbanduhren geeigneten Gehäuse setzte die stilistische und technische Marke für alle folgenden Uhren der Portugieser-Serie.
