The 1960s was a decade characterised by experimentation, fun, freedom and energy. Whether you took a motorbike for a spin or stepped on the gas in a sports car, life was running at full speed. Willy Breitling sensed this change of pace and set out to develop an unconventional chronograph that captured the momentum of the era. He called it the Top Time.
The Top Time B01 Ford Mustang features the colours and emblem of its vintage counterpart, as well as a perforated leather strap, a tachymeter scale and contrasting “squircle” (not quite square, not quite round) dials that create the special atmosphere of classic dashboards. What’s more, it has an engine under the bonnet to show for itself: the exceptional Breitling manufacture calibre 01.

Breitling’s storied association with chronographs and aeronautics dates back to 1884, when Léon Breitling laid the foundation for a company that would remain in his family for nearly a century.
In 1923, a patented pocket watch with two chronograph pushers caused a sensation. The one pusher in the 2 o’clock position was used for starting and stopping, while the other, integrated into the crown, reset the chronograph mechanism. For the first time, it was possible for the stopwatch to measure multiple times in sequence.
Navigation and timer - or simply Navitimer
In 1952, Willy Breitling developed a chronograph with a circular slide rule that pilots could use to make all the necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the American Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the largest pilots' club in the world, appointed his design as its official timepiece.
