The origins of the Portugieser date back to the late 1930s, when IWC Schaffhausen used a high-precision pocket watch movement to create a particularly large wristwatch with chronometer precision.
The Portugieser Automatic 42 is powered by the IWC-manufactured 52011 caliber, which is elaborately finished with circular Côtes de Genève. The Pellaton winding system is reinforced with virtually wear-free zirconium oxide ceramic components and builds up a power reserve of seven days (168 hours) in two barrels.

With a clear focus on technology and development, the Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has been producing timepieces of lasting value since 1868.
The easy-to-read and clearly structured dial skilfully continues the design language of IWC's Portuguese customers known since the 1930s and complements it with another timeless piece of jewellery.
