When astronaut Edward White became the first American to take a spacewalk in 1965, he had a Speedmaster ST 105.003 on his wrist. And it is precisely this model that inspired the OMEGA timepiece presented in 2020. The 39.7-millimeter stainless steel case was influenced by the style of the 3rd generation Speedmaster, just like Ed White had it on his arm.
After extensive research, the particularly unique and iconic parts of the 321 caliber (which had not been produced since 1968 in series) were reconstructed in their own workshop and launched to match the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Since such a beautiful movement as the caliber 321 should of course be visible, it can be admired at any time through the sapphire crystal caseback.
The bezel ring made of polished black ceramic is adorned with a tachymeter scale made of white enamel. On the dial with the “step dial” look you will find the typical moonwatch hands including a central chronograph hand as well as the auxiliary dials for the small seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters.
