On 3 October 1962, when astronaut Walter Schirra wore his personal model as part of the Sigma 7 mission of the Mercury programme, the Speedmaster CK 2998 became the first OMEGA in space. This revised version pays homage to the pioneering watch of the time and captures the style of that 2nd generation Speedmaster in a modern form. The dial and crown feature an OMEGA vintage logo, while the case back is engraved with the famous seahorse medallion and ‘THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE’ and ‘OCTOBER 3, 1962’.
