The new Pelagos FXD pays homage to the TUDOR wristwatches worn by US Navy divers for decades. With fixed straps, a titanium case, a powerful manufacture movement and a unidirectional rotating bezel to show elapsed time, it presents itself as the ultimate modern “milsub”.
The wristwatches issued to military personnel are usually engraved with specific inventory numbers. However, this does not apply to the TUDOR watches issued by the Navy. There was never a troop-wide marking system. The watches were not marked at all or were marked at the unit level, with different codings, mostly for inventory purposes.

Tudor has identified the historic uses of its watches and reinterpreted them in its latest models.
For example, the French Navy had TUDOR watches delivered without bracelets and then fitted them with their own straps, handmade or otherwise. One of them has been found with a strap made of elastic fabric taken from a French rescue parachute.
