The new Ranger continues the tradition of the expedition watch in the Tudor collection, which was established with the Oyster Prince watches worn by members of the British North Greenland Expedition.

Even before Rolex took part in the ascent of the Mount Everest, Tudor was involved in the British North Greenland Expedition. From 1952 to 1954, about 30 men were sent to the Great North of Greenland in a station codenamed North Ice. The aim was to conduct scientific studies in the fields of glaciology, meteorology, geology and physiology, and to explore and record the terrain. Seismological and gravitational studies were also carried out.
