Ceratanium® is a material developed by IWC that combines the advantages of titanium and ceramics in one material. The patented material based on a titanium alloy is as light and unbreakable as titanium, but at the same time as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramics. In addition, it impresses with its good skin compatibility, high corrosion resistance and the matte black color. Because all the components of the case, including the pushers and the buckle, are made of Ceratanium®, the watch is given a striking, all-black Jet Black design.

The double chronograph has an integrated slave pointer mechanism for the simultaneous measurement of two short times. It is powered by the caliber 79230 with automatic winding and a power reserve of 48 hours. The watch with a black dial and black hands is worn on a black rubber strap.

With a clear focus on technology and development, the Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has been producing timepieces of lasting value since 1868.

In the new production facility, the Schaffhauser Uhrenmanufaktur manufactures factory parts and production facilities on an area of 13,500 square meters and enclosures under one roof - a milestone in the company's over 150 year history. For example, the entire added value from the raw material through the individual parts of the work to the finished manufacture movement is now arranged on a floor in a logical order.

    The Portuguese

This very successful timepiece, produced since the mid-30s of the last century, fell out of the usual Art Deco style. While at that time mainly smaller and slimmer wristwatches were available on the market, two Portuguese businessmen turned to the watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen to commission a traditional, large wristwatch with the precision of a pocket watch, for which the Schaffhausen-based company is world-famous. The combination of the Savonette pocket watch calibre 74 with a case suitable for wristwatches set the stylistic and technical standard for all subsequent watches in the Portuguese series.

The easy-to-read and clearly structured dial skilfully continues the design language of IWC's Portuguese customers known since the 1930s and complements it with another timeless piece of jewellery.
