Based on a legendary prototype developed in the late 1960s and offered to the US Navy, this watch reveals a little-known aspect of brand history. TUDOR had supplied the US Navy with divers’ watches since the late 1950s when the brand began developing a functional watch in 1967 to replace the then-standard Navy watch – the Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7928.
The Black Bay P01 presents itself with contemporary sporty charm, but at the same time takes over the principle of the winding crown at the 4 o’clock position as well as the prominent end elements of the model from the 1960s. This reflects the research character of the diver and marine watch Project again. It is provided with a domed, dull black dial with painted, phosphorescent hour indices. The matt, fully frosted case respects the functional aesthetics of the prototype that inspired the watch.
